"On August 27, 2013 I was on a field trip and a child (4 years old) bumped his mother's nose with his head, this resulted in the mother's nose to bleed. I immediately thought of the training I received in my Life First Health Training First Aid class I said, "What would Ms. Crum do?" I reached for a back pack and tookout the following items, rubber gloves, bottle water, plastic bag and gauze .  I instructed the mother who was holding her head back that her postion was wrong and to pinch her nose close and to title her head forward. I remove the child's bloody shirt and place it in a plastic bag, after about 10-15 minutes I instructed the mother to release her nose and the bleeding had stop.  Ms.Crum prepared us for real world situations, my favorite scenario is the picnic at the park and someone is injured "use what you have available."
